Daytona USA Confirmed for PSN and XBLA



Remember that rumor about Daytona USA being revived on current consoles? Well, Sega has made it officially so today. Daytona USA will be available in North America on October 25 for PlayStation Network ($9.99) and October 26 for Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox360 (800 Microsoft Points). The game will hit Europe in late November.

The Daytona USA remake will feature wheel support for the Logitech GT Driving Force steering wheel controller on PS3 and all Xbox 360-supported steering wheel controllers. This will also be the first time online multiplayer will be supported.

Here are some of the other features:

• Fresh Oil and a New Coat of Paint: Experience the classic retro graphics of the original arcade hit in an enhanced,16:9 widescreen format
• Let’s Go Away: Relive your glory days of racing to the sounds of the original Daytona USA soundtrack, also available in Karaoke Mode (admit it, you know you have been singing along anyway)
• Reach the Winner’s Circle: Challenge AI opponents in Arcade Mode, race the clock in Survival and Time Trial Modes, and trade paint with up to eight players in online multiplayer to place on the worldwide leaderboard

Daytona’s “new” graphics look to be slightly more polished than the recent arcade update to Daytona USA, entitled Sega Racing Classic. This trailer and its theme song is probably going to incite some strong love it or hate it feelings:

Anyone else screaming Daytona!!!?? I am personally happy to the series return to its original namesake. What other racing classics from the 1990s (or dare I dig into the 80s) would you like revived?
