Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren—Forza Motorsport 4

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is a grand tourer jointly developed by German automotive manufacturer Mercedes-Benz and British automobile manufacturer McLaren Automotive and sold from 2003 to 2009.

When the car was developed, Mercedes-Benz owned 40 percent of the McLaren Group and the car was produced in conjunction between the two companies. SLR is an abbreviation for "Sport Leicht Rennsport" (Sport Light Racing), a homage to the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR which served as the car's inspiration.

The car was offered in coupé, roadster and speedster body styles with the latter being a limited edition.

IN FORZA

Due to the licensing problem between Mercedes-Benz  and McLaren, the Mercedes-Benz SLR only appears in every main title of the Forza series leading up to Forza Motorsport 6.

And starting from Forza Motorsport 4, players can enjoy the exterior, interior, and even engine details via the Autovista (now Forzavista) function.

Exterior

At the 1999 North American International Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz presented the Vision SLR concept, inspired by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé.



Wanting to bring the concept to production following its positive reception, Mercedes not only joined forces with McLaren, but also brought the McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray on board to help design its new SLR coupé.

Overall, the shape of SLR in FM4 looks great and as close as possible to the real SLR. And the details on exterior, such as the dual exhaust pipes on both sides, the rear lights turn signal and even the spoiler mounted on the rear integral air brake flap are there too.

Interior & Trunk

Inside, every detail of the interior reflects the high-performance character of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.

The aluminum and carbon contrast with supple "Silver Arrow" leather, which was specially devel-oped for the new high-performance sports car and sets peerless standards in terms of its quality and material thickness.

The interior details are fantastic! From the giant SLR logo, the transmission and mode selection buttons on the central console, to smaller details, such as the doors handle, windows and seat control nearby the driver seats, the net in the trunk or even the burn hazard decal nearby the doors are replicated!

Performance

The SLR has a hand-built 5.4 L (5,439 cc) supercharged V8 engine, which generates a maximum power output of 626 PS at 6,500 rpm and maximum torque of 780 N⋅m between 3,250 and 5,000 rpm.

And the SLR utilized the AMG SPEEDSHIFT R automatic transmission. For durability, Mercedes selected a five-speed transmission rather than their seven-speed transmission which was more complex and used more parts.

The engine details are excellent too. From the giant SLR and the Mercedes logo on the engine cover, to the mechanic signed badge are all replicated!
